[Product Review]: Melvita Avocado Oil

I'm not a fan of facial oil because I can't imagine putting oil on my face since my face tend to be oily especially in my T-zone due to dehydration. But, my mind changed when my friend shared me her experience after she used facial oil on her face. She even lent me her facial oil, ask me to try it on my face for few days. My perception on using facial oil on face changed at that moment. Since after that, I bought my very 1st bottle of facial oil --Avocado Oil  from Melvita in Aug.

This avocado oil is bottled in a glass pump bottle. Since it's a glass bottle, so you can absolutely feel it's not light to hold this bottle on your hand. I bought this with USD 12 from COSME-DE.COM. The price is really really much cheaper than the selling price at Mevita official outlet store which it is RM128 if you buy from outlet. Each type of facial oil made by Melvita comes in one size only, i.e.: 50ml.

Below is the description & benefits of using this avocado oil as well as its ingredient which I copy from the MY Melvita official website.

Product Description:

Very rich in non-saponifiable components, avocado oil is obtained from the flesh of the persea gratissima fruit. An excellent natural anti-ageing treatment, this oil is recommended for dry and delicate skin.
Extremely nourishing, it is recommended for the eye contour, the neck and for stretch marks, especially if used with shea butter, which contains non-saponifiables that are remarkably complementary.

Ingredient:100% Persea Gratissima (Avocado) Oil. Ingredient proceeding from Organic Farming.

I used to ask the salesperson in the outlet whether I can use this oil on my entire face. The salesperson didn't recommend to use it on whole face, indeed I should use it only on my eyes. Well, this product is alot... 50ml & focus only on my eyes area??? I really have no idea how long do I take to finish it. At last, instead of follow what the salesperson advised me, I use this oil on my whole face as well...kakaka~~~

This avocado oil is yellow and almost close to light brown color. It's very rich and thick alike cooking olive oil. I somehow don't know how to describe its smell. It definitely not a decent smell to put it on face and if you're very particular on smell, I can guarantee you'll not like it. But if you're someone like me who value the product purpose and functionalities over its smell, I think you will not hate the smell.

The pump attached to the bottle is a bit tight and not so easy to pump. It will be great if the manufacturer change the bottle type to dropper cap type instead. I experienced few times where the oil spilled everywhere on my hand & on the bottle itself when I pressed the pump. So my advice is don't pump the oil out with one hard-press. Press the pump gently until you get the adequate amount of oil you need.

I write this review after I did some cleaning in my house. So, I take this opportunity to do a with & without comparison with my hands.

My left hand is without the oil. As you can see my left hand is dry and tight while at my right which I apply a small drop of the oil on it looks shinning. The shine isn't grease, it soften and smoothen my dry hand, making my hand more supple and less tight.

I use this oil a serum on my eyes in day time and I use it all overall my face at night. The reason why I don't use it all over my face in day time is because my face is dry and it turns a bit oily at the end of the day. Hence,  I want to avoid my face from looking greasy & oilier throughout the day. I use this oil with my Hada Labo lotion at night and I wake up with a supple and hydrated skin in the next morning.

I have been using this avocado oil for 3 months and I can say it really helps to contour my eyes. My eyes area is normally dry and after using this oil, I can feel the area around my eyes is getting smoother and softer. It also helps to lighten my dark circle and reduce the puffiness of my eyes whenever I lack of sleep. While for my face, since I use it along with my Hada Labo lotion, so my dehydrated face is getting better now. I don't have aging sign nor stretch mark on my face so I can't judge its performance on this two problems as mentioned by the product description.

Here are my overall comments about avocado oil:-

PROS:
1. It is a very good anti dark circle and puffiness eye serum.
2. A very good hydration agent as well.
3. 50ml for 1 bottle can last very long. As you can see from my 1st picture, I have used mine for 3 months and I only managed to use about quarter of the bottle.

CONS:
1. The pump is a NO. Easiest and ideal way to dispense the oil is by using a dropper.
2. Face turns greasy and oily if over use. Remember to only use adequate amount.
3. This oil might be too rich for acne prone skin. I always have acne during my menstrual cycle. In the 1st month of my menstrual cycle after I start using this oil, I noticed it break me out badly. Since then, I stop using this oil whenever it comes to my menstrual cycle & resume afterwards.

Will I repurchase this? Yes.

I hope you'll find this post useful to you and I will meet you again in my next post. <3

[Product Review]: L'Oréal Paris Botanicals Fresh Care Safflower Rich Infusion Masque

I was deciding what to write as my 1st blogspot post, either a beauty product or a hair product. While I was in my shower, a tube which I was holding on my hand gave me an idea. Yes, it is the newly launched L'Oréal Paris Botanicals Fresh Care Safflower Rich Infusion Hair Masque!

Before I start my review, let me share a background why I chose this hair mask as my 1st post.

About a month ago, I finished my all time fav hair mask from Moist Diane and I visited Watson store wanted to buy a new tube again. Sadly, I couldn't find the hair mask I want even I had walked in to 3 Watson stores. I was very upset and decided to buy one from other brand as a substitution of my Moist Diane hair mask. I saw a new L'oreal series displayed in the store and I stood in front of the cabinet eyeing through all the 4 ranges, deciding which suit my hair condition. And lastly, I bought the Safflower Rich Infusion Masque with a price of RM49.90 (200ml) without discount.

I notice there are not much reviews I can find or refer about this hair product. So, I decided to share my thought about this hair masque after about one month of using.

This hair mask is targeted to dry hair. This is how the front and back of the tube looks.

At the front of the tube it mentioned the key points of this hair masque: "Nourishing preparation, infused with safflower oil, intensely softens hair".

While at the back of the tube it said :"With a botanical concoction of safflower, soya and coconut oils, the formula leaves hair feeling intensely nourished and silky soft to touch. Infused with a fresh, soothing aroma."

You can see the company aims on "No silicone, no colorant, no paraben" at each side too.

The masque is white in color (no colorant). Its texture is very rich and thick. Smell wise, quite decent and soothing. I personally feel its smell is pretty similar to the St. Ives Shea Butter Body Wash... Lolx~~~ (tell me if you do feel the same.)

Ingredients List:
Aqua/ water, cetearyl alcohol, glycine soja oil/ soybean oil, dipalmitoylethyl hydroxyethylmoniummethosulfate, cetylesters, cocosnucifera oil/ coconut oil, sodium benzoate, salicylic acid, pentaerythrityl tetra-di-t-butylhydroxyhydrocinnamate, linalool, linumusitatissimum seed oil/ lin seed oil, caprylyl glycol, carthamus tinctorius seed oil/ safflower seed oil, cetrimoniumchloride, citric acid, hexylcinnamal, parfum/ fragrance (F.I.L C193732/1)

It is weird that the English description at the back of the tube is slightly different than other languages. There isn't an instruction on how long the masque should stays on hair in English but I can see there is '3 minutter/3 min/3 minuuttia mentioned at other languages section which I believe it means to leave the masque on hair for 3 minutes.

I don't use hair conditioner. Indeed, I use hair mask as a replacement of hair conditioner each time after I washed my hair. As usual, I put this masque on my hair after washed and let it stays for 5 to 10 mins then rinses it off with warm water. I'm not lying , this masque soften and smoothen my hair instantly when my 1st apply it onto my hair. My previous Moist Diane hair mask works the same as well but I feel this L'oreal Botanicals masque gives much better and instant result than the Moist Diane.

 My hair in 50% dry.

My hair after I blew dry it completely. My hair is shiny, sleek, less frizzy and it is very soft and smooth to touch!

Here are my overall comments about this hair masque:-

PROS:
1. It does what it said, i.e.: it nourishes my hair leavings my hair healthier & more hydrated, silky soft to touch.
2. It leaves a fresh and calming smell on my hair even after 1 day.
3. My hair is less frizz and more manageable.
4. Hair still soft and smooth even after heat.
5. A small amount is enough to apply on my after medium length hair.

CONS:
1. It takes longer times to rinse because of its rich and thick consistency.
2. The tube design is unhygienic and not convenient. The manufacturer should markets it in flip top tube instead because sometimes I'm abit struggle to take the masques out from the tube especially when my hand is wet.
3. Hair might becomes greasy and oily if stay in humid, hot area.

Will I repurchase this? Yes. Despite the cons, I still recommend this hair masque to whom who with dry hair and looking for instant hydration hair masque. Although the price is abit pricey compares with other drugstore brands but it worth the penny such that it is a less chemical product.

Not forget to mention, I wash my hair every alternate day (depends on my daily activity). I used to experiment to only wash my hair and skip this masque after 1 alternate day and my hair is still smooth and soft!

This Safflower series include:
Shampoo (RM39.90/400ml)
Softening Ointment (RM34.90/100ml)
Conditioning Balm (RM29.90/200ml)
